Petrojet coach Mokhtar Mokhtar is hoping his side would avoid last season's dip in form that shattered their hopes of competing for the Egyptian Premier League title. The petroleum club were considered last season's surprise package after producing fine results until the halfway stage of the competition. But a disastrous second half in terms of results saw them finish fifth despite being widely regarded as title contenders. Petrojet are experiencing a similar situation this season but their results are until now relatively consistent. After three successive draws, they managed to defeat Gaish 3-1 at home on Friday. "We are eager not to repeat the mistakes of last year," Mokhtar told the post-match press conference. "We will play to our potential every game in order to remain in the title race." Hectic Schedule Mokhtar believes any team who cope with the current hectic schedule will be the eventual winners. "We are playing too many games in a short duration, something that results in the injury of my players." "The team who will come through that unscathed will be crowned champions." Petrojet had to do without Ayman Ramadan, Mohamed Al-Fakahani and Mohamed Koffi when they hosted Gaish as the trio was injured. Ghanaian striker Eric Bekoe, who scored his first goal for Petrojet after restoring their advantage against Gaish, limped off in the second half due to injury.
