British sides Manchester United and FC Celtic cruised to comfortable 3-0 over FC Copenhagen and Benfica respectively in their UEFA Champions League matches on Tuesday. Paul Scholes opened the score for United in the 39th minute while John O'Shea and substitute Kieran Richardson completed the rout with second-half goals. The win moved Manchester closer to the Champions League knockout stages as they lead their Group F with a perfect nine points from three matches. Former England international Scholes blasted home a powerful long range drive after being squared by Louis Saha.
Celtic's striker Kenny Miller O'Shea made it 2-0 only seconds after re-start when he netted home from a Cristiano Ronaldo corner-kick. Richardson completed the rout for the Red Devils with a fierce shot that slipped from the hands of Copenhagen keeper Jesper Christiansen in the 83rd minute. Elsewhere, a double salvo from Kenny Miller inspired Celtic to a 3-0 win over Portuguese giants Benfica. Substitute Stephen Pearson scored the third for Celtic to give the Scottish outfit their second successive win and put them in second place on 6 points.
