Marcus Allback scored FC Copenhagen's first ever UEFA Champions League goal to lead the Danish side to a 1-0 home victory over Manchester United on Wednesday. The Swedish international netted the winner in the 73rd minute as Copenhagen grabbed a shocking win over the English giants. Despite the defeat, United are still on top of Group F with nine points, while Copenhagen lie fourth on four points. United coach Alex Ferguson started the match with a second-string side, making six changes from the squad that crushed Bolton Wanderers in the Premiership due to the injuries of some of the key players. Copenhagen had the first chance in the 23rd minute when Michael Silberbauer fired a shot from outside the area but United's keeper Edwin van der Sar dived to save the ball at the near post. One minute later, Wayne Rooney could have broken the deadlock after he cut ahead of his marker to head Wes Brown's cross just over the bar.

An own goal by Gary Caldwell in the 10th minute gave Benfica the lead before Nuno Gomes added the second in the 22nd minute. Andrei Karyaka completed the rout in the 76th minute. The victory put Benfica in third spot with four points, two adrift of second-placed Celtic.
