Egyptian duo Ahmed Samir and Mohamed Abdul-Wahed were on target as Lierse defeated Olympic Charleroi 3-1 in the Belgian second division on Sunday. Right-back Samir needed two minutes to put Lierse ahead but Charleroi's Nadir Sbaa leveled the score seven minutes before the break. Samir caught the eyes once again when he superbly set-up Jurgen Cavens for Lierse's second goal in the 57th minute. The former Zamalek man ran down the right flank, skipped past a challenger and whipped in a pinpoint cross to Cavens, who slotted home to restore Lierse's advantage. It was Samir's second goal this season. Fellow Egyptian Abdul-Wahed made sure of victory in the 77th minute after converting a corner to take his tally to five league goals. The victory helped Lierse regain second place in the table with 33 points, five adrift of leaders Sint-Truidense The league winner directly qualifies for the Belgian first division while teams from the second to the fifth places enter promotion play-offs.
