Egypt awards ZeroCarbon solid waste management contract in Gharbia

Egypt awarded ZeroCarbon for Sustainable Development with the management and operation of a solid waste recycling and treatment plant in Difrah, Gharbia Govenorate.
Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad and Minister of Local Development Manal Awad witnessed the signing ceremony on Tuesday.
The Egyptian government is investing in building the necessary infrastructure for integrated solid waste management, as directed by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The contract with Zero Carbon represents a partnership between the government and the private sector to improve waste management.
The plant will utilise advanced technology for waste treatment and recycling. The government is also investing in capacity building to ensure the sustainability of the project.
The project aims to reduce environmental pollution, promote recycling, and produce alternative fuels. It is expected to create jobs and stimulate the local economy.
Minister Yasmine Fouad, emphasised the government's commitment to sustainable waste management and highlighted the importance of the project in addressing the challenges faced by Gharbia Governorate. She also mentioned the government's goal to increase the recycling rate and reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills.
For her part, Minister Manal Awad stressed the government's efforts to involve the private sector in waste management and highlighted the importance of the project in improving the living conditions of citizens.
The agreement represents a significant milestone in Egypt's efforts to improve its waste management system and transition to a more sustainable future. The project will not only help to protect the environment but also create economic opportunities and improve the quality of life for citizens.
