Japan's Ambassador to Egypt, Takehiro Kagawa confirmed his country's support to Egypt's efforts to achieve security and stability in the region, Al Bawaba News reported Saturday. Kagawa said that Egypt is one of the largest and most important countries in the region as it is considered the cornerstone of the Middle East's stability, adding that Japan supports the Egyptian efforts to maintain political, economic and social stability. He pointed out that the visit of the Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe to Egypt in January and the expected visit of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to Japan will boost the cooperation between the two countries in various fields. The ambassador stressed on Japan's support for Egypt's efforts to confront terrorism and extremism, adding that his country understands the war launched by Egypt against terrorist groups. Kagawa noted that Japan also supports the Egyptian candidacy for the non-permanent seat of the UN Security Council.
