A high level delegation of Japanese investors led by Japanese PM, Shinzō Abe and Japanese foreign ministry spokesperson Junichiro Koizumi arrived in Cairo Friday, for a two day visit to meet with President Al Sisi and senior officials for talks over bilateral relations, investment opportunities and economic cooperation. Abe affirmed his country's full support to Egypt, adding that it is the key to stability in the region. "Japan is the biggest Asian investor in Egypt, but I believe a stronger economic cooperation is possible through Japanese corporations working on Egyptian projects, like the new Suez Canal corridor project", Abe said. He praised the Egyptian efforts to achieve piece in the region, adding that the stability of the Middle East is the key factor to Japan's stability, as he urged the Middle East to unite against the rising danger of terrorism, confirming that terrorist groups like ISIS do not represent Islam. The two countries have been known to have strong economic and political ties as they support each other on issues pertaining to the peace process in the Middle East.
