Egypt's Interior Minister Magdy Abdel Ghaffar met Tuesday with the British Ambassador to Cairo John Casson to discuss a number of security issues of common interest, Al Bawaba newspaper reported. The British ambassador expressed his country's readiness to cooperate with Egypt to support its efforts to combat extremism and to address the security problems facing the country. Casson revealed the determination of the British government to expand cooperation with Egypt in the coming period, especially in counter-terrorism field. He welcomed the idea of developing the level of cooperation between the Ministry and the security services in Britain, including the exchange of information on terrorists and experiences in this regard. Meanwhile, Abdel Ghaffar also met with US Ambassador to Cairo, Stephen Beecroft who praised the efforts of the ministry to combat terrorism and to strengthen stability. Beecroft also stressed the importance of Egypt as the cornerstone to achieve the regional stability during the coming period. He expressed his country's readiness to cooperate with the Ministry to counter terrorism.
