CAIRO: Over 4,000 individual candidates and 35 party lists have submitted their nomination for Egypt's upcoming parliamentary elections, according to Judge Abdel Moez, head of the Supreme Election Committee. Moez said 4,348 independents have submitted their nominations. Of those, 3,758 are candidates for the People's Assembly, the lower house of parliament, and 590 for the Shura Council, which is the upper house. Four party lists have been submitted for the Shura Council and 31 for the People's Assembly. Abdel Moez said 368 independents and 14 party lists submitted their papers for the People's Assembly on Wednesday and 131 candidates and four party lists were submitted for the Shura Council. Abdel Moez said the submission process was easy and regular, and that the committee did not receive any complaints.
