Egypt forward Mohamed Zidan put in a scintillating display in Mainz's 4-0 thumping victory over Kaiserslautern in the Rheinland-Pfalz derby clash on Saturday. The 30-year-old opened the scoring in as early as the second minute to notch his fourth goal in as many games before Adam Szalai doubled Mainz's advantage on 17 minutes. Zidan, who joined the mid-tablers on loan in the winter-break, turned from scorer into provider on the half-hour mark when he set up Nicolai Muller to make it three as Maxim Choupo-Moting completed the rout 14 minutes later. The win lifted Mainz to 10th place on 27 points, while Kaiserslautern remain second from bottom after taking their winless streak to 14 matches.
