Egypt goalkeeping coach Zaki Abdul-Fattah asserted that Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed is an integral member of the national team, promising the Zamalek custodian that he will play a vital role in the future. Abdul-Wahed was shunned by the Egypt management for the Brazil friendly in November, a snub that the 34-year-old guardian believes was down to Abdul-Fattah's own point of view. But the former USA goalkeeping coach came back to emphasize Abdul-Wahed's role in the forthcoming period. “Abdul-Wahed's omission from the Brazil friendly was because we wanted to focus on specific choices for the fixture,” Abdul-Fattah told Zamalek's website. “His role would be vital in the upcoming period, he's an excellent keeper and an indispensable member for us. “The media hype was the reason behind this saga.” Young goalkeeper Ahmed Al-Shennawi did well between the posts in Egypt 2-0 defeat to the Selecao, with Essam Al-Hadari relegated to the bench. Egypt's next training camp will be in January as the national team are set to play two friendlies during that phase, one of which will be against Brazil as well. The African champions are preparing to face Central African Republic in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers during the first half of next year.
