Zamalek president Mamdouh Abbas talked Mohamed Abdul-Monsef out of terminating his contract with the White Knights. The 33-year-old goalie repeatedly called on Zamalek to allow him to leave over the past weeks but they have been reluctant to dispense with him. He came close to joining Gouna this summer but Zamalek, on second thoughts, decided to keep hold of him, which prompted the towering shot-stopper to seek the termination of his contract on Thursday. But a day later, Zamalek stated on their official site that wealthy businessman Abbas, who's in London to undergo surgery on June 18th, phoned up Abdul-Monsef and persuaded him to backtrack on his decision. "Abbas promised Abdul-Monsef to extend his stay for two or three seasons soon and the keeper decided to stay put," a statement reads.
