Ismaili midfielder Omar Gamal is set to get back in training within a week and should make his long-awaited comeback shortly afterwards. The 27-year-old hasn't participated in a competitive game since rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament during a league match against Telecom Egypt last May. Gamal attempted to come back in January when he played for 15 minutes in Ismaili's 2-1 friendly win over Masri. However, his cameo appearance was followed by another knee problem that forced him to stay on the sidelines for several more months. Now Gamal is keen to resurrect his career after a lengthy and painful lay-off. "I'm ready now, but it will be better for me if I train separately for a week before getting back in action," he told FilGoal.com. "I should take part in the regular training sessions by Saturday. "I really miss playing football. I don't care about money or offers at this stage, I just want to be on the pitch again." Several Egyptian top-flight clubs made overtures towards Gamal in the January transfer window but Ismaili refused to let him go. Instead, they extended his stay till 2013.
