Ahmed Al-Merghani ended speculation regarding his future by signing a new five-year deal with Zamalek, the central midfielder said on Tuesday. The 21-year-old, whose contract was due to expire next summer, will now stay at the club until 2014. "I will earn EGP400,000 per season," Al-Merghani, who followed in the footsteps of playmaker Alaa Ali, told FilGoal.com. Al-Merghani and Ali, who were promoted to Zamalek's senior team in the second half of last season, were reluctant to pen new deals after feeling undervalued by the club. Improved offers from the Cairo giants convinced them to stay put. Talented right-back Hazem Emam, who also rose to prominence last season as part of a rebuilding process by then coach Michel Decastel, recently prolonged his contract until 2014. Ali and Al-Merghani lost their regular spots this season after Zamalek signed several players in the close season to strengthen their under-achieving squad. Emam is luckier as he competes with Ahmed Ghanem for a place on the right flank.
