Bayer Leverkusen surrendered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Schalke on Saturday but still went top of the Bundesliga. Toni Kroos put the visitors in front after 29 minutes with a superb volley and Stefan Kiessling doubled their lead on the stroke of halftime when he headed home Tranquillo Barnetta's cross. Schalke did not find the net until the 83rd minute when Kevin Kuranyi pulled one back before Vicente Sanchez secured a share of spoils two minutes from time. Leverkusen are on top of the 18-team table with 23 points, one ahead of second-placed Werder Bremen who needed a stoppage-time goal from Aaron Hunt to earn a 2-2 draw at Nurnberg. Hamburg, who are level on 22 points with Bremen, slumped to a 3-2 defeat to Borussia Moenchengladbach as their unbeaten run came to an end. Fifth-placed Bayern Munich were held to a goalless draw by Stuttgart.
