Sunderland manager Steve Bruce confirmed his club's interest in ENPPI winger Ahmed Al-Muhammadi, who seems close joining the Premiership side on a season-long loan deal. Agent Nader Shawki revealed early this month that the Egypt wide man had a trial at the Stadium of Light, during which he 'impressed' Bruce. Former Manchester United man Bruce believes that Al-Muhammadi, who turns 22 next month, has what it takes to establish himself at Sunderland. "The boy Muhammadi could be coming in," the English coach was quoted by Northern Echo as saying.
Bruce (L) "We're looking at that at the moment but it will be a loan deal, a season-long loan deal. He would be one for the future I would say." Sunderland are not the first English outfit to approach Al-Muhammadi, as Blackburn were once targeting him but failed to reach an agreement with ENPPI. Egypt duo Amr Zaki and Mido worked under the management of Bruce last season at Wigan Athletic. Both players returned to Zamalek in the close season, while the 48-year-old tactician took charge of Sunderland. Right winger Al-Muhammadi will be the only Egyptian player to ply his trade at the English Premier League this season should the deal go through.
