Ahli are close to signing Smouha left-back Wael Shafik as they continue to raid the Egyptian second division. The Red Devils have announced on Wednesday the signing of Nasr sweeper Mohamed Khalaf. Their relentless efforts have taken them to within touching distance of another capture in the lower division. "Shafik received five offers from Premier League clubs, but he prefers to join Ahli," Smouha chairman Mohamed Farag told FilGoal.com. "Smouha will receive EGP two million for selling the player to Ahli." The Cairo giants apparently seek to find a replacement for Angolan winger Gilberto, who has been linked with a move away from the club in the summer. Ahli have also signed Nigerian striker Chijioke Abai and Olympic defender Ateya Al-Belkasi, who will link up with the team after the season's end.
