Ahli have officially concluded the signing of Smouha left-back Wael Shafik, the club's marketing director Adli Al-Qaeyi told FilGoal.com. While Al-Qaeyi refused to disclose the deal's worth, Smouha president Mohamed Farag Amer told the second division club's official website that the player was sold for EGP 1.75 millions. Amer added that Zamalek were also interested in signing the player, which forced Ahli to snap up the player from under the White Knights' nose. Shafik has been impressing for Smouha since he joined the club from Nabroh in the summer for EGP 250 thousand. Ahli are looking to add new left-sided players, especially with the news that Angolan midfielder Gilberto is nearing a move away from the Cairo club. Shafik is Ahli's third signing for the coming season, after the Red Devils brought defenders Ateya Al-Belkasi and Mohamed Khalaf from Olympic and Nasr respectively. Nigerian striker Chijioke Abai was also bought from Ouagadougou of Burkina Faso.
