Ismaili skipper Mohamed Hommos awaits any slip up from Ahli as the Egyptian Premier League race hots up. The Dervishes moved up to provisional top spot after snatching a 2-1 victory over Ittihad in Alexandria on Saturday. The have 54 points, two ahead of holders and rivals Ahli, who have two games in hand due to their Champions League commitments. "We will do everything we can to make sure we remain in the race until the very end," Hommos told Modern Sport after the game. "I hope Ahli will stumble in the coming matches to allow us to win the competition." Hommos put in some impressive displays this season, forming an effective partnership with Ahmed Khairi in the heart of Ismaili's midfield. Ismaili won the last of their three league triumphs in 2002, when they beat off competition from Ahli. The Red Devils, Egypt's most successful club, are eyeing a fifth consecutive league title.
