Egyptian duo Mido and Amr Zaki couldn't find the net but Wigan Athletic managed to return to winning ways after beating Sunderland 2-1 at the Stadium of Light on Saturday. Ben Watson, a January arrival from Crystal Palace, gave Wigan the lead after 12 minutes with a smart volley from the edge of the area. Grant Leadbitter leveled the score four minutes before the break when he stabbed the ball past the advancing Chris Kirkland. Charles N'Zogbia handed Wigan their first win in nine matches with a brilliant solo effort on the stroke of halftime. Mido was included in the starting line up and played as a lone striker as his compatriot Zaki and Hugo Rodallega were kept on the bench. He was replaced with five minutes remaining, making way for Wigan top scorer Zaki, who hasn't found the net since scoring his tenth league goal against Bolton Wanderers on December 28th. Mido notched one goal for the Latics since joining from Middlesbrough on loan in the January transfer window. The result put Wigan in eighth place of the league table with 38 points.
