Sunderland, Wigan launch Al-Muhammadi bid
Published in FilGoal on 18 - 03 - 2010

English duo Sunderland and Wigan Athletic have made official offers to sign ENPPI winger Ahmed Al-Muhammadi in the summer, the Egyptian Premier League club said on Thursday.
Suderland made an initial approach to acquire Al-Muhammadi's services in the January transfer window but saw their bid turned down by ENPPI. They have now renewed their interest in him.
Wigan Athletic, where Egyptian strikers Mido and Amr Zaki had loan spells last term, are also looking to sign him when the season ends.
"We have received two offers for Al-Muhammadi from Sunderland and Wigan," ENPPI assistant coach Diaa Al-Sayed told FilGoal.com.
"I can't disclose the financial aspects of the offers. We will make our decision after the end of the season."
Al-Muhammadi, a right-sided midfielder, made no secret of his desire to experience European football after attracting a host of suitors over the past few years.
ENPPI recently said they would allow him to leave when the season ends.
Al-Muhammadi, whose jinking runs down the right flank always cause troubles for opponents, played a key role in helping Egypt win an unprecedented third successive Nations Cup title in January.
He scored in Egypt's 2-0 group-stage victory over Benin when his cross somehow drifted its way into the net.
He has scored three league goals for ENPPI, who lie ninth in the table, so far this season.
