Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson believes his side is just a step away from the Champions League final after their scoreless draw at Barcelona. “I think it was a professional performance. We sealed off the areas that teams often struggle with against Barcelona. They didn't make a lot of chances although they had a lot of possession around the edge of our box, our concentration was very good,” Ferguson told Skysports.com. Barcelona dominated the game in terms of possession but failed to create a real threat to Edwin Van der Saar. The Red Devils had a golden opportunity to score but Cristiano Ronaldo blasted his spot-kick wide. “Yes, I would have backed him to score. He was a bit unlucky. Maybe it came too early in the match for him, in the first minute. It was disappointing, but he was fantastic for us tonight," added the Scot. Meanwhile Ferguson admitted that his side must improve in the second leg if they want to go through to the final. “On a negative side, we should have done better with our possession; we had opportunities to counter-attack and gave the ball away too easily. Possession is always going to be in their favor at their ground. But at Old Trafford we hope to reverse that.” The return leg will be played next Tuesday at Old Trafford.
