Harras Al-Hodoud claimed a 1-0 victory over Ghazl Mahalla in a rescheduled Egyptian League game on Sunday to boost their hopes of playing in Africa next season. Striker Abdul-Hamid Bassiouni squandered several chances to put Al-Hodoud ahead in the first-half Midfielder Mohamed Al-Herda made amends for his teammate's wastefulness when he scored the winner in the 32nd minute. Al-Herda's shot from the edge of the area slipped through the hands of Mahalla keeper Ibrahim Farag. The win lifted Al-Hodoud to fourth place in the league table with 37 points, three adrift of third-placed Al-Gaish, who have a game in hand. Military club Al-Hodoud must leapfrog Al-Gaish into third if they are to secure a place in the CAF Confederation Cup.
