The in-form striker, who has recently received a call-up to Egypt national team, notched the winner in the 19th minute to become the league's joint top scorer with 4 goals alongside Petrojet's Alaa Ibrahim. The result put Mahalla in sixth place with seven points while Suez Cement slipped to the last spot on just one point. Elsewhere, newly-promoted Telecom Egypt grabbed their first win of the season after beating another new team in the top flight, Baladeya, 2-0. Diaa Abdul-Rahman opened the scoring nine minutes past the hour mark before Nasser Husseinen ensured the victory seven minutes later. Telecom Egypt moved to the 12th place with three points, ahead of Baladeya on goal difference.
