Mohamed Farouk came off the bench to score and lead ten-man Ittihad Alexandria to a 1-0 home victory over Ghazl Mahalla in the Egyptian League on Friday. Farouk notched the winner eight minutes from time when he connected with Rami Saied's free-kick from the right flank to head the ball into the back of the net. Ittihad had to play most of the encounter with ten men on the field after defender Mohamed Youness was sent-off in the 30th minute for a reckless challenge on a Mahalla player. The result eased Ittihad's relegation worries as they lie ninth in the league table with 28 points while Mahalla, despite the defeat, remained fourth on 34 points.
