Anderlecht midfielder Ahmed Hassan said that "lack of experience" was behind his side's 1-1 home draw against French side Lille in the UEFA Champions League. Defender Nicolas Pareja put the Belgian champions ahead in the 41st minute but Nicolas Fauvergue leveled in the 80th minute in their Group H match on Wednesday. "We didn't succeed in maintaining our lead because our young players have limited experience, but overall we played good match," Hassan told FilGoal.com after the game. Hassan refused to blame the referee for allowing the controversial equalizer by Fauvergue, who seemed to be in offside position.
"I haven't seen the goal yet, but even if it was offside I won't blame the referee because he was excellent throughout the game." Despite the home draw, the Egypt skipper is optimistic Anderlecht can book a place in the knock-out stage. "The result will not affect our chances; yes we drew at home with Lille but we can beat them in France," he said. "Our next game with AEK Athens is crucial; we are determined to win or at least hold them to a draw, and wait for AC Milan to defeat Lille in France."
