Werder Bremen snatched second place in the Bundesliga and a place in the UEFA Champions League group stage with a decisive 2-1 win over Hamburg SV at the AOL Arena on Saturday. Ivan Klasnic put Bremen ahead in the 27th minute before Sergei Barbarez leveled the score in the 59th minute. Bundesliga top-scorer Miroslav Klose secured the crucial win for the visitors in the 72nd minute. The result sent Bremen two points clear off Hamburg who finished their impressive campaign in third place on 68 points. Elsewhere, Bayern Munich, who have already clinched the league title, were held to a 3-3 draw with Borussia Dortmund at the Allianz Arena. Philipp Degen scored and Jan Koller netted twice for Dortmund while Roy Makaay, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Michael Ballack scored for the Bavarian giants. Kaiserslautern were relegated following a 2-2 draw with Wolfsburg, to join Cologne and MSV Duisburg in the German second division. In other matches, Borussia Monchengladbach beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0, Hannover tied Bayer Leverkusen 2-2, Nurnberg defeated Hertha Berlin 2-1, Schalke edged Stuttgart 3-2 and Mainz were held to a goalless draw with Duisburg.
