Two weekend league fixtures have been postponed in the wake of the recent violence that marred Ahli's Champions League game with Tusker of Kenya. Ahli's 2-0 victory at the Army Stadium was overshadowed by a stream of violence which saw the home fans light firecrackers and throw canisters onto the pitch during play. Officials of the stadium have also reported damages of more than EGP 500,000, requesting Ahli to pay the sum as a result of their fans rioting. Insist “Friday's game between Ghazl Mahalla and Ahli has been postponed indefinitely, as well as Zamalek's game with Ittihad on Saturday," FA spokesman Azmi Megahed said. “Officials of Alexandria's Army Stadium insist not to stage the matches after what happened in Ahli's last match against Tusker." Competitions committee chief Mazen Marzouk has also confirmed the news. Ahli and Zamalek lead their respective groups as both clubs prepare for the Champions League round of 16 this month.
