Egyptian Premier League defending champions Ahli will kickoff the new season with a tricky fixture at Ghazl Mahalla, whereas Zamalek host Ittihad. The draw for the first half of the 2012-2013 season has been held by the FA on Tuesday, with Cairo duo Ahli and Zamalek leading two groups of top-flight clubs. Ahli will play the opener on February 2 at Mahalla before taking on Wadi Degla, Smouha and Bani Suef Telephones. Ahli's last visit to Mahalla – one month before the Port-Said disaster – was marred by chaotic scenes which saw the home fans invade the pitch in protest over a goal scored by the Reds. Zamalek face Ittihad in the opener, followed by games against Police Union, Dakhlia and Petrojet. All games this season will be played behind closed doors as the home venues for Ahli and Zamalek matches are yet to be confirmed.
