Zamalek's de facto football director Ibrahim Hassan has had his five-year ban lifted by the Union of North African Football Federations (UNAF), his lawyer said on Saturday. Ibrahim Hassan, twin of Zamalek coach Hossam Hassan, was handed the ban in December 2008 after losing his head in a regional match between Masri and Algeria's JSM Bejaia. The 43-year-old, who was the football director of Masri, spat at the referee, assaulted the fourth official and made improper gestures towards the home crowd after the Port Said-based club lost 2-0 at Bejaia. His suspension was also upheld by world governing body FIFA. Hassan was consequently dismissed by Masri and had to settle for an unofficial role at Zamalek this season. He appealed the decision to suspend him and his attempt has seemingly borne fruit. "UNAF board member Ahmed Shaker told me that they unanimously agreed to lift Hassan's ban," his lawyer Yasser Shehata told Modern Sport. "The Egyptian FA will receive the official notification on Saturday." Hassan could now have the chance to carry out his Zamalek duties as an officially established football director. However, it remains unclear whether FIFA has approved the UNAF's decision.
