Published in Daily News Egypt on 30 - 07 - 2024

The Embassy of India in Cairo is set to host the India-Egypt Kabaddi Tournament, a celebration of the growing cultural and sporting ties between the two nations. In collaboration with the Egyptian Kabaddi Federation, the tournament will take place at the Helwan University Club from 10 am to 5 pm on July 30, 2024.
The event will feature a total of 12 teams, with six men's teams and six women's teams competing in their respective categories. Kabaddi, an ancient Indian sport that has gained immense popularity across the Indian subcontinent and surrounding Asian countries, is known for its energetic and physically demanding gameplay.
Played with seven players on each side, Kabaddi is a thrilling game that requires both physical skill and endurance to emerge victorious. The tournament will feature two spells of 20 minutes each, providing spectators with an action-packed display of the sport's intensity and athleticism.
"Kabaddi is more than just a game – it is a celebration of our shared cultural heritage and a testament to the strong friendship between India and Egypt," said the Indian Ambassador to Egypt Ajit Gupte. "We are thrilled to host this tournament and invite all sports enthusiasts to come and witness the spirit of this ancient Indian sport."
Following the tournament, an award ceremony will be held to honour the winning teams, further cementing the camaraderie between the two nations. The event will also feature an India Day cultural program, showcasing the vibrant traditions and rich heritage of India.
The India-Egypt Kabaddi Tournament is a testament to the growing collaboration and understanding between the two countries. It serves as a platform to not only promote the sport but also to foster deeper cultural exchange and people-to-people connections.
Sports enthusiasts and spectators from both India and Egypt are encouraged to attend the event and experience the thrill of Kabaddi, while also celebrating the strong bonds of friendship that exist between the two nations.
