Egypt's President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi reviewed on Saturday the government's efforts to produce strategic agricultural crops, as he directed to support the agricultural sector and continue developing the contractual farming system. Al-Sisi met with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali El-Moselhi, and Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Elsayed Elkosayer. The president directed the speedy announcement of a guaranteed price to supply corn, soybeans and sunflowers, with the aim of increasing production from these crops, especially those used in the feed industry, thus reducing the import bill and contributing to price control. Developments in the implementation of a number of food security projects were also presented, especially with regard to the development of livestock in all its axes, according to the spokesperson of the presidency of the republic. The president was briefed on the efforts to develop Egyptian breeds of livestock to enhance their production of meat and milk, especially through artificial insemination centres and genetic improvement lines, in addition to the establishment of centres to collect milk nationwide, supported with laboratory tests, storage and the necessary veterinary services. In that context, Al-Sisi directed the intensification of the use of modern technologies in agriculture and genetic engineering and maximising the use of scientific research to increase productivity and reduce costs.
