Egypt's Health Minister checks on COVID-19 situation ahead of Eid Al-Fitr
Minister follows up on maintenance plan for medical facilities

Egypt's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the Acting Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, has directed to increase the number of ambulances deployed on highways and main roads, during the week-long Eid Al-Fitr holidays.
Abdel Ghaffar made his remarks during the weekly meeting of the Health Ministry, to follow up on the developments of the executive position of the units, health centers and ambulance points included in the action plan of the presidential initiative "A Decent Life" to identify and overcome any obstacles or obstacles, to ensure that work continues to improve the level of medical services provided to citizens in the areas targeted by the initiative.
Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, said that the initiative targets more than 50 million citizens, and work is underway in two phases.
He pointed out that the initiative is planned to provide services to citizens through 1,342 units and health centers in rural and urban areas, and 24 hospitals, including new construction, comprehensive development, and raising efficiency, in addition to 1,000 ambulances and 1,000 medical convoys.
Abdul Ghaffar explained that the minister followed up on the maintenance plan for the medical facilities included in the initiative, to ensure the sustainability of the efficient operation of medical devices and equipment in those facilities, as well as to preserve the external appearance of these facilities until they are included in the comprehensive health insurance system.
He pointed to the follow-up to the plan to train medical cadres in various disciplines to raise their efficiency, and distribute them to the health centers and units included in the initiative to ensure that there is no congestion in specific areas, to ensure the sustainability of optimal operation.
Moreover, the minister followed up on the unified future strategy for health care services in the governorates, which aims to sustainably improve the health system and the level of services provided to citizens, in light of the expected health map according to demographic, social and economic changes.
He added that the minister was briefed on the reports of the epidemiological situation of the Coronavirus at the level of the governorates, noting the continued low rates of infections and deaths, as well as the low rates of frequencies and hospitalizations.
