Al-Sisi praises Orange's operations in Egypt
Orange expresses interest in cooperating on ongoing national projects

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met Orange Chief Executive and Chairperson Stéphane Richard on Wednesday, praising the cooperation between Egypt and the French multinational telecommunication corporation since it began operating in the local market almost 20 years ago, presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady said.
"Egypt is looking forward to enhancing cooperation with the company in different fields and increasing its investments in the upcoming period as the country is turning into a digital society," the official statement read. It added that the government launched several information technology and communication initiatives, aiming to achieve a significant leap in society through developing technological infrastructure across all governorates and upgrading the electronics industry, as well as opening technological parks.
The statement further added that Richard expressed his pleasure at Orange's longstanding cooperation with Egypt, welcoming the enhancement of its investments in the country. During the meeting, Richard reviewed his company's suggested plans to expand its operations in the Egyptian market, expressing interest in cooperating on ongoing national projects.
Orange is one of the world's leading telecommunications operators, present in 28 countries, with hundreds of millions of customers around the world, and sales of billions of euros. The French company acquired Egyptian mobile operator Mobinil in 2016, the first mobile provide in Egypt, which launched in 1998.
