Hamza could still have future at Zamalek
Published in Daily News Egypt on 27 - 04 - 2009

CAIROA: Zamalek hinted on Sunday that Gamal Hamza could still have a future at the club despite revealing his intention to leave in the summer.
The controversial forward said earlier this month that he would not extend his Zamalek contract, which runs out at the end of the season.
I took that decision after realizing that nobody cares about me within the club. They don t want me to remain a Zamalek player, and so do I, Hamza told FilGoal.com.
However, the Cairo giants board member Mohamed Ibrahim believes the 27-year-old s exit is not a definite conclusion.
Hamza s problem has almost been resolved after he held clear-the-air meeting with Zamalek technical staff, Ibrahim told a press conference.
Head coach Michel Decastel will have the final word over whether the player will stay beyond this season or not.
Hamza sought to join Vasalunds IF last month but Zamalek said they did not receive any offer from the Swedish second-division side.
The White Knights response apparently infuriated the talented schemer, who, in response, abandoned training.
Sherif Ashraf and veteran striker Abdel-Halim Ali have been Decastel s preferred duo upfront since the problem came up.
Hamza, a one-club man, has been an integral member of Zamalek s squad since being promoted to the senior team in 2000.
Despite his undoubted talent, Hamza was consistently criticized for failing to play to his potential.
His theatrical dives and off-field problems hindered his progress, pundits believe.
