Egypt's food exports reached a staggering 175,000 tons in the week through August 3-9, according to the National Food Safety Authority's (NFSA) weekly report. This impressive figure reflects a wide variety of over 565 different fresh fruits, vegetables, and other food items. Egypt's vegetable export portfolio boasted 70 different varieties, with a total volume of around 40,000 tons. Beans were the star performer at 12,000 tons, while sweet potatoes and onions each contributed 10,000 tons. Meanwhile, the country's fruits export portfolio boasted 66 different varieties, with a total volume of around 35,000 tons. Mangoes and strawberries led the fruits export charge with 10,000 tons each, while citrus fruits totaled 6,000 tons. Egyptian food exports cater to a vast international audience. During the week of July 13th to 19th, shipments totaled 150 countries. The Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Libya were the top destinations for this bounty of Egyptian produce. The report indicates that the authority carried out extensive inspections last week, covering 105 food factories, 40 packing stations, and 26 food storage facilities.
