Egypt's manpower minister on Monday called for establishing an Arab organization to work on economic integration for resolving the unemployment crisis in the region. During a meeting of labor ministers at the Arab Labor Conference's 38th session, which started in Cairo yesterday, Ahmed Hassan al-Borai proposed that the organization would plan vocational training and education according to each country's needs. It would also remove obstacles that hinder action, especially laws that undermine human rights. Borai also said progress achieved by Western countries resulted from human development through setting a minimum wage without discrimination. Those countries also established systems for social protection that guarantee a decent life for laborers. The minister stressed the need for the freedom to form labor syndicates and declared that the government has proposed a draft law on syndicates' freedom that is currently being considered by the interim cabinet's legislative committee.
