Prominent Egyptian theatre director and critic Hanaa Abdel Fattah was awarded the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs CultureAward this week for his work promoting Polish culture internationally. He is credited for bringing recognition to Polisharts and culture in Egypt and the Arab world. Abdel Fattah, who hastranslated numerous works of Polish poetry and prose into Arabic, joins a group of distinguished priorrecipients includingItalian author and theatre directorEugenio Barba, GermanjournalistMartin Pollack, and Chinese translatorYi Lijun. Abdel Fattah, anEgyptian professor of theatrical arts, theater director and critic, was previously awardedthe Polish Literary Syndicate [ZAiKS] Prize,and The International Theater Institute (ITI) award for promoting cross-cultural dialogue between Poland and the Arab world. The award ceremony took place in Warsaw (Poland) on 26 November.
