Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas praised Tuesday the efforts of the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to achieve peace and establish a Palestinian state in accordance with international and the Arab peace initiatives, Youm7 News reported. Abbas expressed his appreciation for Egypt's historic role in supporting the Palestinian cause, as well as its efforts to preserve the rights of the Palestinian people. He stressed on the importance of Egypt's pivotal role in achieving the Palestinian reconciliation in order to protect the unity of the Palestinian land. Earlier today, Sisi said during his speech on the occasion of inaugurating a new power plant in in Asyut governorate that he met with his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas last week in Cairo, where they discussed ways to revive the peace process and overcome the frustration spread among the Palestinians. Sisi highlighted the existing peace agreement between Egypt and Israel as a proof that peace can be achieved between Israel and Palestine, calling on various Palestinian parties to unite to reach a genuine reconciliation with Israel, which would contribute to achieving security and stability to the region. The Egyptian president asserted that Egypt will continue its role in pushing peace between Palestine and Israel, and end the long conflict between them.
