Published in Albawaba on 09 - 05 - 2016

MP Abdel Rehim Ali has commended the significant role played by the Egyptian political leadership to back the Palestinian issue amid important and dangerous circumstances experienced by the Arab nation.
Ali said in a statement on Monday: "I have followed with full interest the summit between Presidents Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Mahmoud Abbas, as well as the subsequent press statements, praising the Egyptian efforts on the regional and international arenas to reach a just solution to the Palestinian issue in order to provide protection for the Palestinian people and push the resumption of peace negotiations forward, as well as full support to achieve the Palestinian national unity, which meets the aspirations of the Egyptian people and the Arab people and preserve the Palestinian cause full rights as a central issue for the Arabs."
The Israeli entity has continued activities of settlements in the occupied territories, which hinders clearly endeavors to find a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue. And this requires the Arab group in the United Nations and the Security Council to convene at the request of Egypt as the current president of the Security Council to hold an international peace conference on the basis of preserving the rights of the Palestinian people, Ali's statement added.
Ali called on the Egyptian diplomacy to pressure on the countries of the world to hold this conference, and provide a multilateral international mechanism to end the Israeli occupation and the establishment of the State of Palestine in accordance within the timetable specified, and in accordance with the UN relevant resolutions.
He well appreciated the role of the Palestinian leadership and the role of President Mahmoud Abbas, to preserve the rights of the Palestinian people, adding that "it is time to praise the wisdom of President Mahmoud Abbas to safeguard the rights of our brothers in Palestine, all of Palestine, despite differences with some of those who harmed the Palestinian case."
