The Israeli army today released a statement announcing that it is changing the name “Egyptian borders” to “hostile borders,” as it considers the border area a threat to Israeli security. This statement comes in response to the attacks against Israeli citizens in Eilat last August, the blame for which some Israelis place on Egyptians. The Israeli army implemented a complicated security plan to secure the route where the last attack took place, Israeli newspaper Maariv reported. The perpetrators of the August attack infiltrated Israel through Egyptian borders and executed their operation inside Eilat with the help of some inside Egyptian security, the Israel army today alleged. This announcement comes after the conclusion of an investigation into the incident both in Eilat and on the Egyptian border wherein Israeli forces killed several members of the Egyptian security forces. The Israeli army is building a security fence near Eilat, which is equipped with radar and cannot be penetrated along the Egyptian border, Maariv reported. The Israeli army is also on a “red alert” along the Egyptian border.
