Spokesman of the Salafi al-Nour Party, Yossri Hamad, said that his party strongly refuses putting restrictions on the committee formed by the People's Assembly that will draft a new constitution for the country, which was recommended during a meeting with deputy Prime Minister Ali al-Selmy. He added that Selmy adopted the same policy of his predecessor, Yehia al-Gamal, warning that the conference on Tuesday to draft constitutional principles will cause a political crisis before the parliamentary elections. "Egypt's constitution is a red line and we will not allow the secular trend to draft its principles alone," Hamad said. He stressed that the People's Assembly is the authority that can draft and pass the constitution without any interference. He accused Selmy of illegally seizing the authority of parliament. “We should not forget that Selmy is affiliated with the Wafd Party so he represents his party, not Egypt's government,” he added.
