SUEZ, Egypt: "We are monitors and administrators only," said Suez Governor Maj. Gen. Mohamed Abdel Moneim Hashem regarding the role of the transitional government in Egypt's upcoming parliamentary elections. In a statement to Youm7, Hashem said, "All we will be responsible for is following-up, securing the ballots and providing the headquarters for the Supreme Committee of Elections in Suez.” Currently, 381 polling stations are being prepared by the committee. Hashem said there is full coordination between the Security Directorate of Suez and the armed forces responsible for securing the province, in order to maintain order and insure that the elections progress smoothly. With regard to other problems in Suez, Hashem said that during the next two weeks street vendors will be removed from the streets and given booths in a new open market prepared for them.
