CAIRO: Potential presidential candidate Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh warned of extending Egyt's transitional stage. He said such a decision would negatively affect the country's economy. “The revolution is innocent of the deterioration of Egypt's economy,” said Aboul Fotouh, adding that “procrastinating in handing power over to a civilian authority would deteriorate the economy.” He added that Egypt's presidential candidates agree that there is a need to conduct presidential elections immediately after upcoming parliamentary elections, scheduled to end in March 2012. He said such a step would pave the way for drafting a constitution under an elected president and parliament, which would allow business sectors do their role to achieve economic development. Aboul Fotouh stressed the need to restore security in Egypt to be able to attract more investments. He warned that the current insecurity would suspend investments in Egypt.
