CAIRO: Egyptian military police arrested Ali Halby, a member of the April 6 Movement, yesterday in Cairo's Nasr City district. Haldy was reportedly drawing paintings promoting electoral awareness on walls. Engy Hamdeen, a member of April 6's political office, said Halby is at the military prosecution in Nasr City. Hamdeen criticized the arrest of her colleague after Egypt's ruling military council announced that trials of civilians before military courts would end. April 6 has launched a campaign titled ‘White Black Circle' to raise awareness of citizens on how to elect parliamentary representatives and to warn of electing people associated with Egypt's formerly ruling regime. Ame Ali, member of the people's committee of April 6, said the military attorney decided to detain Halby for one week for investigations. They accused Halaby of destroying public constructions. The attorney also refused to release Halby. Ali said the movement is studying developments in the situation. Arabic here
