CAIRO: The German development bank KfW will fund a 45-day training program for 450 engineers from the Egyptian General Authority for Educational Buildings, according to contracts between the Bank and the Authority. Around 15 engineers from each branch of the authority will undergo nine intensive programs concerning administrative training for road projects, contract planning, auctions, and quality control. Banks provided the authority a proposal to train six engineers in Germany, but the Authority requested to amend the proposal to train 450 engineers in Egypt at the same cost. The Authority asked each of its branches to nominate 15 engineers according to transparent standards. KfW provided the Egyptian Minister of Education 14 million EUR (U.S. $19.8 million) to establish new 34 schools in the governorates of Fayoum, Qena, Asyut, and Minya. Classes will start next academic year. The grant is the sixth grant the German Bank granted Egypt to establish schools in Egypt.
