The Egyptian cabinet held an emergency meeting at 11 am Monday morning to follow the developments of clashes that took place outside of Maspero, a building in downtown Cairo that hosts several Egyptian television stations. The meeting began with a moment of silence to mourn those who died during the clashes. Prime Minister Essam Sharaf headed a meeting of the ministerial committee for crisis management Sunday until the early hours of Monday morning. He also visited the scene of clashes outside the Maspero building, and delivered a speech describing what happened as a "conspiracy" to overthrow the state and not just sectarian strife. Sunday's clashes claimed the lives of 24 and wounded at least 272. The cabinet is scheduled to review the incident and look into the efforts needed to contain the situation and determine who is behind it. Arabic here
