CAIRO: Israel will release 25 Egyptian prisoners in exchange of one Israeli spy, Illan Grabil. The U.S. will release a number of Egyptian prisoners in exchange of releasing the Israeli spy after four months of being imprisoned over spying for Israel, according to Maariv newspaper. The deal to swap prisoners was prepared to release Grabil as fast as possible, the paper added. The deal also includes military negotiations about paying advanced weapons to Egypt from the U.S. These weapons were banned to be given to Egypt due to Israeli pressures. In the case the deal is concluded, U.S. Minister of Defense Leon E. Panetta will return to the U.S. with Grabil from Egypt, said Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahranot. During his visit to Israel, Panetta threatened to cut U.S. military aid to Egypt if the American-Israeli spy is not set free, according to the Israeli TV channel 10. Panetta offered the Israel U.S. aid if they improve the deteriorating relation with Cairo and Ankara.
