Israel today decided to increase the budget for military defense as a precaution against looming and new threats in the wake of the Arab Spring revolutions. Israel is facing various threats, particularly in Egypt where the peace treaty is collapsing, reported Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak. Earlier in the week Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided to decrease the military budget by three billion Israeli Shekels, said military expert Amir Rababout. “The Prime Minister wanted to use the funds to address the needs of Israeli people who have lately organized protests against the skyrocketing cost of living. However after being convinced by Barak, Netanyahu reversed his decision and increased the budget for military spending.
