CAIRO: All attendants at the "Opinion – the other Opinion" symposium agreed that the Camp David Treaty could not be amended except by public referendum. “Treaty provisions should not be reconsidered or cancelled, but they should be referred to the United Nations. In the case that the UN fails, the treaty should be referred to an international arbitrator, which will be aligned with Israel,” said Essam Shawki, history professor at Helwan University. If Israel held its stance and did not modify or cancel the treaty, Egypt could break relations with Israel and recall the Egyptian ambassador in Tel Aviv, Shawki added. Mohammad Saif al-Dawla, founder of the Movement of Egyptians against Zionism, said the treaty is null and valid. He added there would not be a war between Egypt and Israel because the Israelis could not be involved in war with Egypt's Tahrir Youth. “There should be a road map to know how to break out of the Camp David era,” said Egyptian political analyst Abdullah el-Senaw. “All Arab nations should participate in the implementation of this road map, so the Arab League should be as big as January 25 Revolution, turn the leaders' league into league of all Arab Nations,” said professor of international law Ali Ghatit.
